The pharmaceutical manufacturing and supply centre in Cramlington, Northumberland continues to lead the industry and the Merck & Co., Inc. organisation in productivity, delivering important medicines into the Merck & Co., Inc. network. Cramlington is the company’s largest manufacturing and packaging facility outside the United States, utilising leading edge manufacturing technologies, high-volume packaging lines, a fully automated warehouse and paperless manufacturing operations.
The Cramlington pharmaceutical manufacturing facility commenced operations in 1975 and employs approximately 400 people today. The site has benefited from a number of major investment programmes over the years, including a world-renowned automated high containment plant, laboratories supporting site supply and regional stability testing, which makes it recognised as a centre of excellence throughout the industry.
